HEAT RACE 4 B-MAIN
A-MAIN (With Starting Positions) Jim Naylor's Ventura Raceway hosted the next round for the VRA Sprint Cars. Points Leader Jimmy "Neutron" Crawford was looking for his first win of the season and to keep his lead over Greg Taylor and Josh Ford. SCRA had the weekend off and veterans Cory Kruseman, Steve Ostling, Tom Downing, and Gary W. Howard signed in to race with VRA. With 33 cars on hand- Ronnie Case (winner last week at Perris), Cory Kruseman, Greg Taylor, and Gary W. Howard won heat races. Jeremy Ellertson won the semi and transferred to the Main Event with Jimmy Crawford, Oren Prosser Jr., and Ryan Devitt. Cory Kruseman started on the pole of the main event, alongside Ronnie Case. Both got together at the start. This allowed Gary W. Howard to take the lead, while both Kruseman and Case saved it and continued on. Howard was dominant early in the Buzz Shoemaker entry. He made his way through the back markers and lost it in between turns 1&2. This allowed Greg Taylor to take the lead. Taylor fought off challenges by Howard and Steve Conrad to take the win. In the end, it was Taylor, Conrad, Kruseman, Chris Wakim (who started 13th), and Jeremy Ellertson- who finished 5th after starting 17th. Note: It was announced that during next week's SCRA show at Ventura Raceway- there will be a match race between the 2-Seat Sprinters of Cory Kruseman and Tony Jones. Both will race with passengers aboard on the Ventura clay. Tony was in attendance tonight with his 2 seater and gave a few rides. |
