Jim Naylor's Ventura Raceway hosted the next round for the VRA
Sprint Cars. Points Leader Josh Ford was looking to keep his lead over Greg
Taylor, who had won his 5th Main Event last weekend. With 33 Sprinters on hand
to do battle on the well prepared track- the fans in attendance were in for a
  show.

Heat Race 1 saw Jimmy "Neutron" Crawford take the
win, but the battle for second had fans on their feet. Greg Taylor made his
way through the traffic and nearly beat Chris Tramel at the finish line.

Heat Race 2 action saw Clark Templeman III ride over the wheel
of another sprinter and crash hard in turn 1 of the opening lap. He was ok,
but his car sustained severe front end damage and he was done for the night.
  Chris Wakim was the victor.

The 3rd Heat Race had Tony Dighera take the win as he made his
way through traffic, finishing ahead of Luis Espinoza and Steve Chulahoff.

The 4th and Final Heat Race of the night had some of the best
racing action on the night, with a spirited battle between Ronnie Case and
Oren Prosser Jr. Though the battle was for second- both drivers changed
positions and lines several times and Case finished 2nd. Steve Stasa checked
  out for the win.

The B-Main had the wildest flip on the night, with Dr. Mark
Weitzman going end over end down the back stretch. The incident was also a
near altitude record for the track, and the driver was uninjured. Early
Leader, Russell DeBlauw spun, leaving transfer spots to Richard Terry, Eric
Severson, Trevor Brillman, and David Sinsley. Tonight's alternate was Ron
Rector, who was at the helm of a Cory Kruseman School Car. Points Leader Josh
Ford retired early in the race, due to a rear end problem. In doing so, he
  also relinquished the Points Lead.

The A-Main saw Chris Wakim take the early lead. Tony Dighera
was on a mission and passed Wakim to take the lead. As the pair worked their
way through traffic, Dighera's car broke and he came to a stop before
collecting the wall. Wakim inherited the lead and was stalked by Greg Taylor.
Taylor took command, but Wakim used the high groove and battled back and forth
with Taylor for the lead. In the end, Taylor won his 6th Main Event of 2002,
with Wakim second, and Luis Espinoza in third.
