The VRA Sprint Cars returned to action at Jim Naylor's Ventura Raceway after a
one week hiatus. Tony Dighera was looking for his second win in a row over the
37 car field.
With the SCRA Sprints at Manzanita, "World Famous"
Tom Downing and Gary W. Howard (in the Buzz Shoemaker #0) were on hand to try
their luck. Downing made the most of the opportunity, as he won Heat 1.
Heat 4 had a spirited charge late in the race by points leader
Greg Taylor as he nipped Josh Ford at the line by a front bumper.
Defending Champion Gary Howard and his teammate Rob Kershaw
were missing form tonight's action.
VRA/SCRA Driver David Sinsley took the checkered flag in the
2nd B-Main.
The main event had Jimmy Crawford take the early lead. He
started to stretch his lead as he entered lapped traffic. Josh Ford and Greg
Taylor gave chase and eventually passed Crawford. Ford had his hands full of
Taylor's slide jobs and caught a break. Jeff Heaton flipped and during the
ensuing yellow/red- Taylor's car suffered front end damage- which ended his
night. Ford crossed the line ahead of Jimmy Crawford and Chris Wakim.
The VRA Sprints and Senior Sprints will be in action next
weekend at Ventura Raceway.
