The VRA Senior Sprints took to action, sharing tonight's card with the SCRA
Sprint Cars. With a field of 21 Sprinters for the 45 years young and older
drivers, they took center stage in front of the large crowd on hand.
Heat 1 had both of this season's winners, with Wiley Miller
and Ron Bach. Bach, who won the last 2 events debuted a new TCR Chassis and a
new color scheme reminiscient of SCRA's John Scott's bright yellow and green.
A tangle early in the race, saw Tim Moon hit the front stretch wall, causing enough
damage to end his night. Wiley Miller looked strong and won the heat.
Heat 2 saw the defending champion, Jim Porter and racing
legends Oren Prosser Sr. (of Saugus Stock car fame) and Eddie Wirth (1985 CRA
Champion) among the field. In this heat, Wirth parked in turn 2 and John
Richards, a 70-year old rookie, could not avoid him and flipped. Richards was
uninjured and walked away. Both were done for the night.
Heat 3 had Mike Cook take the win in his #96 Shrike, a car
formerly driven by Brad Noffsinger at Ascot Park.
In the Main Event, Wiley Miller brought home the win, followed
by Jim Porter and Mike Cook, who had his best finish of the season.
