The VRA Sprint Cars returned to action with 44 cars signed in to do battle.
Ventura Raceway sponsor Agromin contributed to tonight's purse and doubled the
winner's share. This resulted in a night filled with tight action and
determined drives.
SCRA was off for the weekend and 2001 Champion and current
points leader Cory Kruseman was on hand in the Bill Camarillo #25C. He and
"Sheriff" John Wright split time in Cory's 2-Seat Sprint Car giving
rides to lucky fans. The car will be on hand when SCRA makes it first
appearance of 2002 at Ventura Raceway on May 5th. Be sure to sign up as the
spots are going fast. 5-lap rides are $100.
Other SCRA veterans on hand included Gary W. Howard, who was
in the Shoemaker #0, a ride that was last driven by Mike Kirby 2 weeks ago.
"World Famous" Tom Dowing was in his familiar #90 Sprinter.
Riverside's Bobby Graham was in the #80 family sprinter and it was announced
that this car was up for sale.
Tony Dighera and Josh Ford fought early in the main event.
Cory Kruseman had a slingshot move into second, ahead of Dighera, and
then spun. This collected the 3rd & 4th place cars of Dighera and Gary W.
Howard. Chris Wakim stalked Ford and then took the lead. Wakim's lead was
brief, as Greg Taylor was not to be denied on this night.
The VRA and VRA Senior Sprints will return next week. SCRA
will return to action, this Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway.
