Gardner lead the first few laps before Jones took the lead. Williams mounted several challenges, but Jones, who had lost his brakes, held him at bay.
Rutherford hit the wall and flipped in qualifying. Transferred from the "C" with a fourth place finish and then took the fourth and final transfer out of his heat to the A main. He started 22nd in the main and ended up 11th.
Scott & English touched on the back chute in heat race three. Scott climbed the wall, came back down and continued towards turn three. Just before the turn, his right front dug in sending him into a series of violent flips and contact with Becker. The car was destroyed, but Scott was not injured
