Large, loud, enthusiastic crowd was treated to a great night of racing at
The PAS. Only flip of the night was in qualifying when Adam Mitchell flipped
hard
into the turn one catch fence. Mitchell was uninjured, but his car suffered
lots of damage to the bolt on parts.
Only four yellow flags (1 in the heats, 2 in the “B” Main and 1 in the
“A”
Main) on a great track that stayed tacky all night long.
Ostling had a problem in qualifying and went from ninth to third in the
“C”
Main. He started ninth in his heat and again went to third. In the “A”
main
he started 20th and finished tenth.
Great main event with Griffin, Kruseman, Williams and Sheridan running nose
to tail in the top four spots over much of the second half of the race. They
did this while running through the early lapped traffic and again after a
restart due to a yellow when Hank Winter lost his brakes. Kruseman and
Griffin at times both stretched out leads that seemed unbeatable, but each
time, they were reeled back in.
Griffin led the first lap of the main while Kruseman led laps two thru nine.
Griffin took the lead back on lap ten and maintained that spot until Kruseman
got inside of him and took the lead exiting turn four on the 29th lap.
Griffin tried to get back inside Kruseman in turn one on the last lap, but it
was not to be and Kruseman won his ninth main of the season.
Tony "The Cowboy" Jones returned to SCRA action, driving the
Lloyd Racing #34 Sprinter. It was announced as a "one time deal"
with a possibility for more starts. It was the second start of the season for
the Lloyd #34 as "Hotfoot" Troy Cline drove it on July 4th at The
PAS. Tony made the best of the opportunity as he won the Passing Masters Dash
and finished 5th in the Main Event after nearly 2 months of inaction with
SCRA.
