Fifty cars on hand with 49 taking time trials (World Famous Tom Downing Blew the engine on the #90 car before wheel packing). First "C" main was plagued
with yellows and one red flag when D.J. Ruth flipped violently in turn four. Fortunately he was uninjured. Wildest flip of the night - and one of the
nastiest of the year at The PAS - came in the third heat when Troy Rutherford, after apparently touching wheels with another car, flipped
several times and was near the top of the billboards in three and four. The car was destroyed. Like Ruth, Rutherford walked away.
Twenty of the 22 starters finished the main event. Super Rickie Gaunt, who slid to a stop in turn two early in the main event and later had a flat left
rear tire, was the first car out due to the two-stop rule. Impressive rookie Lance "The Flyin' Flea" Gremett, who started 12th and had worked his way to
7th, was the other car to have a DNF after he had contact with John Scott and smacked the front chute wall.
The main event was all Rodney Argo. At least it was all Argo for the first 29 ¾ laps as Argo led from the green and at times had a commanding lead.
However, on the final circuit, Tony Jones dove hard on the inside of Argo as they hit turn three and relieved him of the lead. Jones then led the final
quarter lap for the win. Once again it was a wild, crowd-pleasing main event at the PAS.
The SCRA Sprint Cars return to the PAS next Saturday, September 30th.
