A
late race pass for the lead just prior to the white flag gave David
Cardey his first feature win of 2002.
After taking the lead from Tyler Brown on lap 2, Brent Sexton
lead the rest of the way up to lap 18 before Cardey slipped past for
the win.
The
first heat race of the evening started 3 of the CLS top 4 in points.
Tyler Brown led the field into the first turn and never
looked back. Greg Bragg
and Chris Rahe would start from deep in the field to finish 2nd
& 3rd. Wink
Schweitzer occupied the final transfer spot.
Karl Benefeil picked up his 2nd heat race win of
the season in heat race 2 ahead of 6th place starter
Ernie Bartley. Danny
Swanson and Jonny Bates finished 3rd & 4th.
Heat 3 was a wild one as Jeff Stiller & Steve Barnette
tangled in turn 2. Stiller
did his best impression of Spider Man up the turn 2 wall before
flipping hard. Both
cars suffered extensive damage but both drivers were ok.
Brent Sexton then roared to the front from the back to take
the win. Adam
Tjelmeland finished 2nd ahead of Jesse Dean & Gary
Sexton. David Cardey
won the 4th heat race from the 5th starting
spot ahead of cousin Steve Cardey.
Paul Cook edged Josh Williams at the line for 3rd.
Rob Sczymczak ran away from the field to win the B Main ahead
of Keith Janca, James Squire and Denise Cline.
Tyler
Brown paced the field to the green flag from the pole position in
the A Main. Tyler
jumped into the lead ahead of front row starter Karl Benefeil who
developed a mechanical problem right away.
Brent Sexton continued his heat race charge & took over
the lead on lap 2. David
Cardey ran 3rd ahead of Greg Bragg and Adam Tjelmeland.
Chris Rahe joined the top 5 on lap 4.
Caution flew on lap 5 as Jesse Dean spun in turn 2.
David Cardey passed Tyler Brown for 2nd on the
restart. Greg Bragg was
next to pressure Tyler. Bragg
moved into 3rd on lap 10.
Chris Rahe slipped past Tyler 3 laps later.
Just as Bragg passed David Cardey for 2nd on lap
14 caution flew. Tyler
Brown came to a stop while under yellow & was unable to restart.
Bragg would revert back to restart 3rd.
Chris Rahe slipped by Bragg on the restart to take the spot
while Steve Cardey moved into 5th on lap 15.
Chris Rahe had just passed David Cardey for 2nd
when his battery developed a short ending his charge forward.
David Cardey made a late race move on Brent Sexton for the
lead just prior to the white flag.
Greg Bragg followed Cardey around Sexton on the final lap to
take 2nd. Steve
Cardey finished 4th while Adam Tjelmeland scored his
first career top 5 finish. Rob
Sczymczak earned hard charging honor moving up 10 positions to
