Bragg Wins At Perris! by Josh Williams |

(Perris Auto Speedway March 19, 2002) Greg Bragg took the checkered flag in the 2nd heat race and the A main to complete a perfect night & take the points lead. The fist heat race was won by Paul Cook from the 2nd row ahead of Tyler Brown, Jeff Stiller and Gary Sexton. The 2nd heat race went to Bragg who came from 6th place to win. Danny Swanson, Kip McCleary and Donny Gansen made up the four transfer positions. The third heat race went to Steve Cardey who picked up his first heat race win ahead of a charging Chris Rahe. Adam Householder and Steve Elliot rounded out the top 4. Heat race four went to Paul Townsend ahead of Carl Cosico, Mike Barnette and Steve Barnette. David Cardey, Brent Sexton, Josh Williams and Denise Cline transferred from the B Main. Paul Cook brought the field to the green flag for the 2nd race in a row. Bragg got the early jump on the field with Cook running 2nd. Chris Rahe & Jeff Stiller had worked their way up to join the leaders by lap 4. Caution waved on lap 5 as Paul Cook lost a chain. Brent Sexton, Paul Townsend and Chris Rahe also developed mechanical problems & retired. Upon the restart, Bragg continued to lead with Tyler Brown running 2nd and Jeff Stiller 3rd. Steve Cardey & David Cardey had worked their way up to 4th & 5th respectively. On lap 18 David Cardey slipped past cousin Steve Cardey for 4th. The red flag came out on lap 19 as Gary Sextons motor blew. Several cars came together amidst the cloud & flipped in turn 4. Involved were Stiller, Steve Cardey, Mike Barnette & Adam Householder. All were ok. David Cardey passed Tyler Brown for 2nd on the restart. Carl Cosico & Donny Gansen rounded out the top 5. Hard charging honors go to David Cardey moving up 11 positions!
