BINDER LOOKS TO REPEAT AT AZTEC
SATURDAY
|
Beau Binder of El Paso, Texas hopes to repeat the victory he scored at Aztec
Speedway in May when the series returns to the 3/8-mile dirt track in
northwestern New Mexico this Saturday night.
Affectionately dubbed "29-3/4" by fellow
participants after his near-victory at Denver, Colo. July 12, Binder led that
race from the drop of the green flag until series point leader Rick Ziehl caught
him exiting the final turn on the last lap!
Ziehl's win left the Las Cruces, N.M. driver with a 20-point
series lead over Brandon Lane going into this Saturday's race. Binder is tied
for third in the standings with Ron Clark.
So far this year Binder has seven "top-10s" in
eight starts, while Ziehl is seven for nine in the same stat category. Lane,
like Binder and Ziehl, has already tasted victory in this year's series, but
Clark is still seeking his first series win.
Ranking fifth in series standings is lady driver Kaylene
Verville of Phoenix, Ariz., who last year became the first female ever to win a
USAC Sprint Car race with her victory at Show Low, Ariz.
A 30-lap feature tops Saturday night's Aztec program.
