Arizona drivers Kent Rosevear of Yuma and Charles Davis, Jr. of Buckeye scored
feature victories in last week's USAC Southwest Sprint Car Series competition.
The series is idle this week but resumes with June 6 and 7 races in Lubbock,
Texas.
Arizona drivers Mike Martin of Yuma and Kaylene Verville of
Phoenix are in a virtual tie for the series point lead after the weekend events,
10 points ahead of Ronnie Clark of Tucson.
Rosevear, who won the series opener in April at El Centro,
Calif., led all 30 laps of Saturday night's race at Thunder Raceway in Show Low,
Ariz., beating Clark, Verville, Matthew Rossi and Robert Hall, Jr. to the line.
Davis passed Eric Wilkins in the 22nd lap of Sunday night's race at Canyon
Raceway in Peroia, Ariz. and led the last nine laps to beat Wilkins, Clark, fast
qualifier Jeff Branaman and Rossi. Robert Marfia, Jr. was the fastest qualifier
at Show Low.
Martin recorded ninth and eighth-place finishes in the two
races, while Verville was third at Show Low and 11th at Peoria. Verville became
USAC's first lady Sprint Car feature winner last year at Show Low.
