MARK SOKOLA REMEMBERED FRIDAY |

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA, APRIL 18, 2003 - Funeral services were held Friday
for former CRA and SCRA driver Mark Sokola, who passed away last Saturday in his sleep at the age of 40. Sokola started his racing career in 1982 driving TQ midgets. Moving up to sprint cars, Sokola was named the CRA's "Most Improved" driver in 1986. Sokola also raced with the SCRA during its first full season and earned his best career finish on August 13, 1994, when he finished third at Santa Maria Speedway. Sokola is the son of longtime CRA President Gary Sokola and was recently in attendance at Manzanita Speedway where a race is held annually honoring his father's memory. Sokola is survived by his daughter Kandace, mother Valerie and sister Laurie.
