David Cardey Wins 2 In A Row! |

Perris, CA March 8, 2003 - David Cardey backed up his season opening
victory winning his 2nd feature in a row on a very tacky Perris surface.
Thirty-three cars were on hand. The first heat race was won from the pole by
Keith Janca ahead of a charging Jonny Bates. Josh Williams & Donny Gansen
made the transfer to the A Main. The 2nd heat race was won by David Cardey from
the 3rd row ahead of Darren Hagen, James Squire and Stan Sexton. Heat race 3
went to Brent Sexton who won by nearly half a lap ahead of Steve Cardey, Karl
Benefeil and Eric King. The fourth heat race was again won from the 3rd row by
Gary Sexton ahead of a charging Mike Barnette. Seth Kramer and Gary Dent also
transfered. Paul Townsend won the B Main going away followed by a close battle
for 2nd among team-mates Pat Hickey & Dylan Morris. Robert Early and Steve
Barnette made up the final transfer spots to the A Main.
Keith Janca and David Cardey made up the front row of the Main Event. David Cardey led the caution plagued early laps ahead of Brent Sexton. Darren Hagen and Jonny Bates took the 3rd & 4th spots from Keith Janca on the 3rd lap. The top 5 remain unchanged until a late race charge by Brent Sexton running a high line put him in the lead on lap 19. Sexton's lead was erased when caution flew before the lap was finished. David "Re-start King" Cardey jumped out to a several car length lead upon the restart to win his 2nd Main Event in as many races. Donny Gansen took 5th from Keith Janca by inches at the finish line. Rookie Points leader Robert Early earned hard charger honors moving up from 20th place starting position to finish 7th.
