Boat wins on Tucson pavement |

TUCSON, Ariz. (May 18, 2002) Mike Boat of Phoenix, Ariz. captured Saturday night's 30-lap USAC New Mexico/Arizona Regional Sprint Car race at Tucson (Ariz.) Raceway Park, the first for the new series on pavement. As a result, Boat is the new point leader going into this Saturday night's events at the 1/4-mile dirt Thunder Raceway in Show Low, Ariz. Boat led all 20 laps at Tucson to beat Chuck Buckman, Rick Sipes, Mike Martin and Steve Stone. Boat was also the fastest qualifier and won a preliminary heat race. Boat's lead over point runner-up Mike Martin stands at 23 points going into the series' third race, at Show Low.
