San Luis Obispo's Steve Drake leads the Late Model point
standings after sweeping the April 13 points possibilities with fast time, a
heat race win and a main event victory. Drake leads defending champion Rick
Coffey, of Santa Maria, by twenty-two points and Doug Jeffers, of Nipomo, by
twenty-six.
Tim Randolph took second in his heat and a win in the
feature opening night to take the early lead in the Street Stock division over
two more Santa Maria drivers. Randolph is ahead of Larry Mickey by six and
Joey Silva by twelve.
Lompoc's Brad Smith has a ten point edge over Jeremy
Heroux of Nipomo in the Mini Stock chase. David McMullin, of Nipomo, and
Darrin Davis, of Atascadero, are tied for third, twelve point out of the lead.
Santa Maria drivers Thad Bennett and Kelly Pusley lead
the Factory Stocks, separated by twenty-eight points and Peter Murphy, of Paso
Robles, is third, thirty-four points back.
Saturday's gates open at four p.m., with qualifying at
six and racing to follow. Prices are: Adults - $11.00, Seniors (65+) - $8.00,
Children 6 to 12 - $3.00. The Speedway is 1/4-mile north of the 101/166
