KANSAS CITY, KS, AUGUST 15, 2002 - Charles Davis, Jr. won the second annual
Jerry Weld Classic Thursday night at Lakeside Speedway. A huge crowd was
on
hand to watch the 12 car invitational event and that saw Davis drive his Arizona
Race Mart No. 94 Buckley to a wire to wire non-stop 15-lap victory (4:25.78)
from the outside of the front row.
Bud Kaeding started eighth and actually held the lead briefly on the final lap
after trying a turn one slid job. After a slight tap, Davis drove down the
turn two banking and reassumed the lead for go along the back straight. Bobby
Graham finished third ahead of Troy Rutherford, Levi Jones and pole-sitter Lance
