Lakewood, CA., July 23 -- The NAPA Auto Parts - Auto Trader
Magazines SCRA
sprint car series will make its final West Coast appearance this Saturday
night, July 27th at the Perris Auto Speedway before heading east for the start
of the 4th Annual Non-Winged World Championship (NWWC) tour.
Defending NWWC Champion, and current SCRA point leader, Richard Griffin
(Silver City, NM), will be looking to change his Perris luck this Saturday. Away
from Perris, Griffin has won the last four SCRA events, including last
weekends race at Santa Maria Speedway (Santa Maria, CA), but is still looking
for his first win of the year at Perris. With his victory last Saturday,
Griffin has now won five of the last seven races at Santa Maria, including the
last three in a row. Corona's Steve Ostling has posted back-to-back
runner-up finishes and currently sits second in series points. Heading
into this weekend, Ostling trails Griffin by 79 points (1204 to 1125).
Defending SCRA Champion Cory Kruseman (Ventura) has been in the Midwest
competing in the annual Indiana Sprint Week. Making the most of his
stint in Indiana, Kruseman won the first three rounds of "Sprint
Week" (Gas City, Putnamville and Haubstadt). Kruseman was vying for
a fourth straight win in North Vernon (IN) when spun trying to pass eventual
winner J.J. Yeley (Phoenix, AZ). Kruseman restart and eventually
finished seventh to maintain his "Sprint Week" point lead.
