Lakewood, CA., March 20 -- Round six of the
NAPA / Auto Trader SCRA sprint
cars series will be held this Saturday night, March 23rd at the Perris Auto
Speedway.
Jeremy Sherman (Phoenix, AZ) swept last weekend's Gary Sokola Classic at
Phoenix's Manzanita Speedway by scoring main event wins on Friday and Saturday
nights. Dating back to his win in the Western World Championships last
October, Sherman has now won four consecutive SCRA main events at Manzanita
Speedway. Sherman is also undefended at Manzy driving for car owner Mark
Preistley (Yorba Linda).
His victories last weekend vaulted him into the top-five in the SCRA point
standings (with 250 points). Sherman, who won the 1996 Granitize
Products Rookie of the Year Award, now has seven career SCRA wins. All
but one of which has come at Manzanita Speedway.
After posting second and third place finishes at Manzanita Speedway, Garden
Grove's Tony Jones still holds the SCRA point lead (with 296 points).
Three-time SCRA Champion, Richard Griffin (Silver City, NM) is ranked second,
15 points behind Jones.
After a slow start, defending SCRA Champion, Cory Kruseman (Ventura) is now up
to fourth in series points (268) after a pair of top-five finishes last
weekend. Ojai's Troy Rutherford is third in series points with 276.
Perris spectator gates open at 4:00 p.m on Saturday., with the first race
scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.
