LAKEWOOD, CA, FEBRUARY 3, 2002 - Sprint Car Racing
Association (SCRA) President Ron Shuman confirmed that round six of his
Non-Winged World Championship (NWWC) tour will be held on August 14th at 67
Raceway Park in Godfrey, IL.
In a statement released by promoter Joe Dooling, he billed the event as the
"best from the West against the best from the Midwest" citing that
regional stars Tony Elliott, Dave Darland, J.J. Yeley, Tracy Hines and Bud
Kaeding are slated to take on 2001 SCRA Champion Cory Kruseman. Richard
Griffin, who won the '01 NWWC Championship, is also expected to compete along
with Rip Williams, Troy Rutherford and Tony Jones.
The SCRA / NWWC tour will kickoff on August 6th at Southern Iowa Speedway in
Oskaloosa, Iowa. The Midwestern portion of the tour will conclude with a
two-day show at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas on August 16th &
17th. The overall NWWC Champion will be crowned at Manzanita
Speedway on
November 9th after three nights of racing during the Western World
Championships.
