Lakewood, CA, May 21 --
The Non-Winged World Championship (NWWC) tour will begin at Eagle Raceway in
Nebraska on June 8th and 9th. Eagle Raceway has been a part of the NWWC
tour since the series began two years ago. This year, the NWWC tour will
make a two-day Eagle Raceway stop for the first time. As part of the
track's "33 Days of Money", any driver winning Friday's preliminary
feature, Saturday's JE Pistons Dash and the A-Main event will collect a $2,500
bonus in addition to the $5,000 for winning the 40 lap finale.
On June 12th, the tour moves over to 81 Speedway in Wichita, Kansas, for the
second straight year. Two days later, the SCRA/NWWC tour makes it's first
visit to the Tri City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois. Both A-Mains
will pay $4,000 to win, $2,000 for second place and $300 to start.
The Midwestern portion of the NWWC tour will conclude with a two-day show at
Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, KS on June 15th and 16th. Saturday's 40
lap finale, will start 24 cars and pay $10,000 to the winner, $4,000 to the
runner-up finisher and $400 to start.
SCRA President Ron Shuman and Manzanita Speedway (Phoenix, AZ) promoter Keith
Hall recently announced that the three-day NWWC stop at Manzy (Oct. 25-27) will
pay $25,000 to the final night's 40 lap Western World winner thanks in part to
sponsorship from NAPA Auto Parts. For the second year in a row, the
Perris Auto Speedway (Perris, CA) will pay $25,000 to the winner of their Oval
Nationals. This year's Oval Nationals has been expanded to a three-day
show (Nov. 1-3) and will crown the NWWC Champion after the 50 lap finale. Past
NWWC Champions are Cory Kruseman (1999) and Richard Griffin (2000) .
