Lakewood, CA., May 15 --
The Sprint Car Racing Association (SCRA) heads over to Manzanita Speedway,
Phoenix, AZ, this Saturday night (May 19th) for round eleven on the 2001
campaign.
Cory Kruseman (Ventura) continues to be the man to beat on the tour. Last
weekend at the Perris Auto Speedway (Perris, CA), Kruseman won his fifth SCRA
main event of the season. The win preserved Kruseman's streak of being the
only SCRA driver to have won at least five main events in every season since
1995.
On the year, Kruseman has lead 130 of the 310 main event laps run. Perhaps
more impressive, is the fact that Kruseman has only finished outside the
top-five once in ten races this year. Heading to Manzy, Kruseman leads
Troy Rutherford by 154 points (694 to 540).
Hesperia's John Scott is third in points and only sits ten points behind
Rutherford. Defending SCRA Champion Richard Griffin (Silver City, NM) and Tony
Jones (Corona) are tied for fourth in series points (with 519). Like
Kruseman, each of them have a single win to their credit this year at Manzanita
Speedway.
