Lakewood, CA (January 19, 2001) Sprint Car Racing Association (SCRA) President Ron Shuman recently released the 2001 SCRA schedule.
As usual, the season will kickoff at Keith Hall's Manzanita Speedway (Phoenix, AZ) on February 3rd before
heading to the official "home track" of the SCRA, the Perris Auto Speedway (Perris, CA), on February 17th for
the first of 22 dates.
Headlining this year's schedule at the PAS is a couple of big dates in November. First, the 6th Annual Oval
National which will now be a three day event (Nov. 1st-3rd). Last year's race paid a record $25,000 to the 50 lap winner. The SCRA season will conclude two weeks later at the PAS (Nov. 17th) with the running of the Jack
Kindoll Classic. The PAS will also host 50 lap races on May 26th, July 4th and September 2nd.
Manzanita Speedway ranks second only to the PAS with seven race dates. The March 16th & 17th dates at
Manzanita Speedway will add to the excitement of the IRL and Copper Classic weekend at nearby Phoenix
International Raceway. Saturday's 40 lap finale will pay $4,000 to the winner and has been named the Gary Sakola Classic honoring the former CRA President. Manzy's SCRA season will come to an end with the
running of the Non-Winged Western World Championships on October 26th & 27th.
The Non-Winged World Championship (NWWC) tour is slated to begin at Eagle Raceway (Lincoln, NE) with a
pair on dates on June 8th & 9th that will pay $5,000 to Saturday night's winner. From there, the NWWC tour
heads down to 81 Speedway (Wichita, KS) on June 12th before making an inaugural visit to Tri-City Speedway
(Granite City, IL) on June 14th. The Midwest portion of the NWWC / SCRA tour will conclude at Lakeside
Speedway (Kansas City, KS) on June 15th & 16th with a $10,000 paycheck going to the final night's winner.
A few weeks later, the SCRA will make their first of three stops to the Santa Maria Speedway (Santa Maria, CA) on July 7th. Ventura Raceway (Ventura, CA) also has three races scheduled including a 40 lapper on Labor Day weekend. Ventura's October 20th event will also feature the popular Wagsdash. The Tulare Thunderbowl
Speedway (Tulare, CA) makes it's way on to the SCRA schedule for the fourth straight year with a single date on
August 4th.
JE Pistons returns once again as the title sponsor of the Passing Masters Dash as will Sander Engineering for the
Fast Time award. TW Metal comes on board as the new "Hard Charger" award sponsor and JB Enterprise will
sponsor the B-Main. Supertrapp Mufflers, Shaver Engines, KSE Products and Simpson Race Products will
