MAY WINS FOURTH NMRA-TQ MIDGET MAIN OF SEASON |

Ventura, CA, Jul. 19 - Jimmy May won his fourth NMRA-TQ Midget main
of the season Saturday in a 20-lap, 18-car feature on the banked,
fifth-mile clay Ventura Raceway. He returned to his home track
and led all the way in a Greg Edenholm-owned Hart chassis with
Hart/Honda power. May now has captured four of the seven TQ mains run to date. The circuit has visited four different tracks this season. May also won NMRA-TQ features during April at Ventura and Santa Maria and on July 12 at Perris. Victory points moved May from tenth to seventh in current NMRA points. He is only 91 points behind point leader Chuck West despite not attending three of seven races this year. May now has won five of the 15 NMRA-TQ features (a .333 "batting average") since the circuit succeeded USAC as a TQ racing sanctioning organization and resumed operations last year. The TQ association has had nine different main event winners and has raced at six different dirt tracks--Visalia, Pahrump, NV, Santa Maria, Victorville, Ventura and Perris. Following the winner Saturday were Steve Lambert, the runner-up in 2003 point standings, Rich McCormick, a former USAC TQ veteran and current VRA 360 sprint car driver, Walt Johnson, the 2001 USAC TQ champion, and Jody Bandfield. Kenny Wiley, the 2002 NMRA rookie of the year, West Evans, 2002 NMRA champion Chuck West, from Fresno, Steve Parke and Michael Bliffen rounded out the top ten finishers. Johnson drove the 2002 championship car owned by Guy Barber, who holds a four point lead over Edenholm in owner points. Lambert and May won a pair of nine-car, eight-lap heat races. NMRA-TQ competitors will return to action on Saturday, August 9 for the second race of the year at the third-mile, banked clay Santa Maria Speedway. May won the April 26 NMRA round three of 2003 race at the central California coastal track.
