Ventura, CA -September 11, 1999-- Ventura Raceway
wasn't allowed to award points for it's IMCA Sprint Car action on
Saturday night because they were running the SuperNationals for all
the IMCA classes in Boone, Iowa on those dates. Still, a 20 car field
turned out and former SCRA sprint car regular Gary Howard won their 30
lap main in front of Jeff Heaton and Bill Welch. After racing in the
Santa Maria street stock open comp the previous weekend, Tom Stephens
returned to Ventura and won their 20 lap main ahead of Wayne Heurung
and Randy Miller. In the I-4 Modifieds, Marty Desbrow from Ventura won
ahead of Brian Rader and Todd Keeter. Jack Fullerton won the pony
stock main ahead of Scott Bulpitt and division point leader Mark
Fullerton.
The 20 car IMCA sprint car turnout saw everyone but Ronnie Case
starting their 30 lapper. Howard has struggled through a series of
mechanical woes recently including both his car and his racing
trailer. The Anaheim racer won the 30 lapper ahead of Heaton, Welch,
Clark Templeman III, Kenny White, Greg Taylor, Rob Kershaw, Tony
Dighera, Will Perkins and Dan Tedrick.
