2005 Season Notes

- Damion Gardner scores his first Sprint Car Championship. Gardner
won 15 features and set 22 Fast Qualifying Times in Ron
Chaffin's #50 Eagle.
- Cory Kruseman took Glenn Crossno's #38 TCR/Bullet to 9 USAC/CRA
wins and a 2nd place finish in the standings. The pair also
scored VRA and SCRA 360 Sprint Car feature wins.
- Defending Champion Rip Williams had 2 feature wins on the
season and finished 3rd in the points standings.
- Second Generation Driver R.J. Johnson was named Rookie of the
Year.
- Seth Wilson won Most Improved Driver honors in his Racing
Optics #17 "Warbird."
- "Showtime" Danny Sheridan was the "Hard
Charger" of the series.
- Dave Darland won the season opening "Salute to Copper
World" at Manzanita for the second year in a row, this
time in Dwight Cheney's #42 TCR.
- Damion Gardner won the Perris "Day Race" on February
5th.
- Mike Kirby won the Sokola Classic at Manzanita in Mark
Alexander's #4 Stinger.
- Winged Sprint Car veteran Ricci Faria surprised the field at
Hanford on June 4th.
- Cory Kruseman won the "Salute To Indy,"
"Firecracker 50," and the Bagley Classic at Perris
Auto Speedway.
- Rickie Gaunt won at USAC/CRA's first visit to Santa Maria
Speedway on June 18th.
- New series winners include Ricci Faria, Alan Ballard, Josh
Ford, Darren Hagen, and Jerry Coons Jr.. Faria, Ballard, Ford,
and Hagen won their first career 410 sprint car main events.
- Damion Gardner swept 2 nights of action at Alger, Washington's
Skagit Speedway.
- Damion Gardner won September 24th's "Hall of Fame Vintage
Classic" at Manzanita Speedway.
- Cory Kruseman won at USAC/CRA's first visit to Tucson's USA
Race Park.
- 2005 VRA Champion Blake Miller won the Wagsdash at Ventura in
Nadine Keller's #5X Sled.
- Dave Darland won the Oval Nationals and Western World
Championships in Jeff Walker's #11 Chalk.
- Cory Kruseman won the season ending Jack Kindoll Classic at
Perris.
- USAC/CRA ran 38 races at 8 different tracks: Perris, Manzanita,
Ventura, Santa Maria, Kings, Skagit, Tucson, and Bakersfield.
