Don Barnes was a crew member for the Cory Kruseman / Harlan Willis #45
SCRA Sprint Car Team. He passed away on February 8, 2001 of an apparent heart attack.
This news was shocking to the racing community.
Don was not only a crew member, he was a sponsor and supporter of Sprint Car Racing. He truly loved the sport and its family. Always seen with a smile on his face, he made everyone around him happy. When not at the races, he was a presence on the internet- chatting with fellow fans and sharing good cheer. He got to witness his friend "The Kruser" Cory Kruseman win the last sprint car race that he attended at Manzanita in early 2001. You can bet he was cheering as loud as possible throughout the year as Cory went on to have a record breaking season and win the 2001 SCRA Championship. |
