NMMRA SPRINT CARS: HEAT RACE 1: HEAT RACE 2: HEAT RACE 3: FEATURE: Here is a quick recap of Fiesta Days racing at Aztec tonight. Complete results can be found on Speednet.com Twenty Three NMMRA sprints signed in tonight with 22 taking the green flag. Jeff Brumfield was the only non starter due to a blown motor in his heat race. Two other drivers went for a tumble together in a heat but both LC Kesterson of the four corners and Kelley Dennison of Albq. were able to start the main. Mike Martin won the four car "Dash for Cash". The non wing NMMRA sprints ran a 25 lap feature with
Bob Ream, Jr. of Glendale, Az. winning a hard fought race with Scott
Box of Albq. 2nd, Steve Nix of Santa Fe 3rd, Mike Martin of Yuma, Az.
4th and Bo Baker of Grants, N.M. 5th. Not counting a Yellow Flag on Lap 2 for debris, 22 Sprinters went Green to Checker at AZTEC SPEEDWAY'S Fiesta Days Special Show 25 Lap Sprint Feature. Pole sitter #22m Grant's Jesse Baker in his JACKSON EQUIPMENT & COMPACTION machine set an early pace over PERFORMANCE PLUS ride of Santa Fe's #2 Stephen Nix. As the two looked for their grooves, Glendale, AZ's #8x Bob Ream, Jr. in his PARKER STORE ride, moved from his 5th place starting position into the lead. He and Nix swapped leads several times and on lap 19, Nix slipped & #40x Scott Box moved into 2nd. They chased Ream to the checker, followed by Yuma, AZ's #16a Mike Martin & #61x Grant's Bo Baker. Rounding out the Top 10 were #19 Ronnie Smith, #22m Jesse Baker, #7k Phoenix's Bruce St. James, #24 Jordan Mattson & #7 Rick Johnson. #16a Martin barely nipped #8x Ream at the wire in the DASH 4 CASH & the $100 RANDY'S ELECTRIC Cash Prize. The 1st Heat saw Ream ahead of Martin, Box & #74x Josh Hodges. The 2nd Heat went Red as #5j Jeff Brumfield, Jr. & #F-2 L. C. Kesterson tangle in front of #9x Kelly Denison and saw both Kesterson & Denison flip. Both completed repairs & made the Feature; unfortunately Brumfield blew up 2 laps later. #61x Bo Baker LUCAS OIL Sponsored Sprint captured a close 2nd Heat over #62r Bill Mitchell, #24 Jordan Mattson & #50 Jerry Higginbotham. Mitchell had his Rookie Status removed during Intermission & started 9th in the Feature. Our 3rd Heat went to Jesse Baker in front of St. James, Johnson and Nix. #40x Box recaptured the NMMRA Points Lead with now 113 Points ahead of #19 Ronnie Smith's 104, followed by #7 Johnson - 100 pts, #2 Nix - 92 and #8 J.
