Nick Green Wins NCMA Select Series Finale

In his first run with NCMA this season Nick Green made the season finale his first win. Green is certainly an up and comer and should be seen around for many seasons to come.
Ed Amador and Bill Hopper led the first heat to the start, with Kent Stephens and Wes Gutierrez behind them, Denny Burrell and Cameron Beard making up the final row. Stephens, current Select Series points’ leader made short work of the eight lap dash. Hopper held on to second. Gutierrez and Amador finished third and fourth, respectively. TJ Smith and Kris Koontz started first and second for heat #2, Rob Hammond and Nick Green filling the next row. Brian Sperry and Jace VanderWeer headed up the third row and Doug Gandy, Jr. brought up the tail. Smith, in only his fourth NCMA start, grabbed the win with Rob Hammond coming in second. Green took third and Sperry, fourth.
Stephens took the checkered for the Trophy Dash, with Hopper second. Hammond, third and Smith having received a bump on the rump giving him a DNF for the dash.
The twenty lap Main Event was started with Sperry on the pole and Amador shotgun. Green and Gutierrez (in only his second 360 start) started third and fourth. Stephens took the green in fifth. Sperry didn’t quite make it to the halfway mark and was out with mechanical issues. Koontz was involved in a racing incident with Beard and launched into a triple summersault. Green, Stephens, Smith and Gutierrez were gone like a freight train. Looking like the brat pack at full throttle, they came in first, second, third, and fourth. Hammond brought his red and white rocket into fifth and the 2007 NCMA Select Series is history.
