John Lowe used his front row starting spot to his advantage and captured the MTS feature at Cherry Speedway Friday night. Following Lowe was Ohio's Kyle Simon, Steve Irwin, Mark Irwin and "Downtown" Davey Brown, on what could be called, "One of those nights".
19 wingless cars were in the pits tonight and things started off smoothly as the three heat races went without incident, with Nick Landon,Davey Brown and Steve Simon taking the wins.
The track lights went dark during a bomber race. After a delay, and lighting was restored, red flags appeared for three different on track events during the street stock feature.
After driver intros, the sprint car feature was pushed off and as the green dropped, a turn one tangle between Landon and Jim Heeny caused a complete restart but the 2nd try saw Jerry Evilsizer and Jim Gerrard come together in turn one. Chuck Wilson and Mike Astrauskas caused one more restart until Mark Irwin led the first two circuits.
Lap three saw John Lowe take command that he never gave up. On Lap nine Astrauskas got upside down in turn two. He was ok. When the green came out some good action saw Mark and Steve Irwin, Steve and Kyle Simon and Davey Brown all invloved in some dicing for the next six laps as the checkers fell on lap 15 of the shortened feature due to the late hour.
