HUSET'S SPEEDWAY NON-WING SPRINT CARS
HUSET'S SPEEDWAY - BRANDON, SD
JUNE 22, 2006
Commentary By Heather Riffel
(June 22, 2006-Brandon, SD) Travis Schreurs, Keith
Johnson, and D.J. Jones, substituting for Larry Buckneberg in the
Factory Stocks, picked up their first wins of the season during
Thursday night Thriller action at Huset’s Speedway. Adding to their
win totals this season were Zeb Larsen, Steve Eliason, Doug Martens,
and Andy Hofmeyer.
Andy Anderson was able to take the lead from
polesitter Mitch Coburn on the first lap of the Heartland Racing
Association Wingless Sprint feature. Doug Martens quickly moved up to
challenge Dana Buttemeier for second. There was an early caution for
Jeff Luhmann. On the restart Anderson, Martens, Buttemeier, and Bret
Mellenberndt were all battling for the top four positions. Martens
decided to use the high line only his high line meant almost touching
the wall lap after lap. This line worked out for Martens and he took
the race lead with five laps remaining. Mellenberndt moved up to
second and continued to challenge Martens but the high line was just
working too well. They were side by side at the line but Martens was
able to hold on for the win. Mellenberndt finished in second followed
by Anderson, Buttemeier and Coburn.
