Brothers Dave and Don Emery started on the front row
of the Wingless Sprint feature event, with Dave coming out ahead at
the end of the first circuit. By the end of lap two, Greg
Higginbotham charged into the lead, while Josh Jacobo was sidelined
with mechanical difficulties.
Jacobo re-entered the race on lap ten but continued to
suffer problems.
Meanwhile, Sacramento's Phil Pedlar took the lead from
Higginbotham, with rookie Taylor Simas hot on his heels.
Pedlar's experience kept him just ahead of Simas and earned him the
victory. Simas took second with Corning's Nathan Johnson in
third. Higginbotham and Dave Emery rounded out the top five
positions. (It was erroneously reported last week that Don Emery ran
into a stalled Carl Green and Reyna Kreuger causing the other two
drivers to flip. In fact, Emery was trying to avoid a stalled
Green in turn two when he was rear-ended by Kreuger which caused the
two drivers to flip. No injuries were incurred.)
