ORLAND SPRINT CARS
Greg Higginbotham wins first Sprint feature Greg Higginbotham was just one spot away from a clean sweep in the Non-Winged Sprint division. Greg, a rookie this year in the division, won his heat race, and finished just behind former track champion Josh Jacobo in the Trophy Dash. Jacobo and Higginbotham put on quite a show in the A-Main event. Higginbotham took the lead on the second lap, but Jacobo was right behind him, looking for Greg to make a mistake. But a mistake was never made and Higginbotham took his first feature win of the season, narrowly edging out Jacobo. Phil Pedlar, visiting from Marysville, took the third position. Orland's Adam Schroer finished in fourth with Dudley Burrows of Willows rounding out the top five. Racing will resume this Saturday night, presented by Century 21/ABC Realty of Orland. Representatives from local radio stations, TV stations and newspapers have been invited to participate in a special Media race, driving the popular Mini Trucks. Pit gate opens at 4:00 and grandstands will open at 5:00 PM. Racing begins at 7:00. Admission for adults is $8; kids and seniors are $4; under six or over seventy are admitted free of charge.
