BJ Martin started front row outside of the Non-Winged
Sprint Car feature, immediately jumped into the lead and maintained
that position for the remaining laps, despite a red flag on the second
circuit. Oroville's Doug Butterfield got upside down coming out
of turn two but was uninjured and able to get his car back on the
track and back in action. Point leader Tony Richards, who has won six
consecutive features, started last in the field. Richards was able to
work his way up to third by the 16th circuit but was passed by Greg
Higginbotham on the last lap which put Richards back in fourth. Adam
Schroer, who also started in the last row, chased BJ for over half the
race but had to settle for a second place finish. Higginbotham and
Richards finished three/four, with former three-time track champion
Josh Jacobo rounding out the top five.
Racing will resume this Saturday night, featuring a
special exhibition of Remote Control cars. These "little"
cars put on a demonstration several weeks back, much to the delight of
the audience. Pit gate opens at 4:00 and grandstands will
open at 5:00 PM. Racing begins at 7:00. Admission for adults is $8;
kids and seniors are $4; under six or over seventy are admitted free
of charge. More information may be obtained by calling the
track office at 530/865-2409.
