Another clean sweep for the night came in the
Non-Winged Sprints by Tony Richards driving his super-fast #94 Sprint.
Richards made it from last to first in just seven laps and remained in
the top spot for the remaining circuits. Corning's Nathan
Johnson edged past Doug Emery to take the second spot on the 16th
circuit. Emery held the third position to the checkered flag,
with Doug Butterfield and Adam Schroer respectively rounding out the
top five. Schroer was the winner of the second heat.
Following the Sprint feature event, fans and racers were
treated to a spectacular fireworks show to begin the July 4th weekend.
Saturday, July 9th Orland Raceway will feature all five
regular divisions. If enough Hornets are race-ready, they will
be given a chance to run their first event of the season.
Grandstands will open at 5:00 PM and racing begins at 7:00.
Admission for adults is $8; kids and seniors are $4; under six or over
seventy are admitted free of charge. More information may
