ANTIOCH WINGLESS SPRINT CARS Former Wingless Sprint Champion Darrell Hanestad made his return to Antioch on Saturday and he found himself in a familiar spot...in victory circle. Hanestad had to patiently work his way around cars as the track has dried out after running the 30 lap Street Stock race. Don Gonderman jumped out to and early lead and was pressured by Scott Merrell early on. After a restart, Jim Perry Jr. quickly moved to second to battle with Gonderman and was followed by Hanestad. Perry would spin a few laps later, moving Hanestad to second. After trying different lines, Hanestad finally overtook Gonderman for the lead. Gonderman was not content with second and was applying the pressue to Hanestad but it appeared he lost a radiator hose as he stopped with steam pouring from his ride. Merrell would continue to run strong and took second. Joey Santos also battled up front much of the race and claimed third. Santos was followed by Arvo Backholm and Dennis Fraser.
