Richards and Lewis
highlight Glenn Co. Fair racing
competition
Under a backdrop of Ferris Wheels turning and with the
smell of corn dogs and cotton candy in the air, Orland Raceway
presented an abbreviated program of racing which featured three
divisions instead of the usual five so that fans and racers would have
ample time to enjoy the fair's activities after their racing events.
Tony Richards was the man to watch as he piloted his #94
Wingless Sprint car to yet another victory for the popular driver.
Starting in the back of the field, Richards used the top groove as
well as the middle groove and the low groove to his advantage to gain
a clean sweep. Tony was the division's Trophy Dash winner, his
heat winner and notched one more man event on his victory belt.
Greg Higginbotham started mid-field and had a good run going for the
second spot until he suffered engine difficulties on the 14th circuit
and was sidelined for the night. Adam Schroer was quick to fill
the spot, followed by Josh Jacobo who started in the front row.
Nathan Johnson chalked up an impressive fourth place finish, after
starting last in the field. Ed Butterfield rounded out the top
five finishers.
