Near perfect track conditions help with awesome
night of competition
Promoter Paul Turner spent endless hours pumping
Orland Raceway from Tuesday through Thursday. Blessed with
beautiful daytime conditions, he was able to begin grading the track
on Friday and prepared what turned out to be a near perfect track for
racing. As the five divisions on hand competed, drivers were
eager to give fans a great show for their money. With the new
line-up practice started at the begin of the season, the leader in
points must start at the back of the field with non-members starting
behind the entire field. This schedule makes for exciting racing
not only for fans but racers as well.
Josh Jacobo looked like a sure winner in his #69
non-winged Sprint, leading all but the last lap when he was passed by
defending track champion and current points leader Tony Richards.
Greg Higginbotham was also able to slide by Jacobo to take over the
third spot which put Josh back into the third position. Doug
Emery and Ed Butterfield crossed the line in fourth & fifth,
respectively.
The Friday, May 20th Fair Race has been reorganized
and will feature Sprints, Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks. This special
event will begin at 7:00. For grandstand pricing, contact the Glenn
County Fair office at 530/865-1168.
