FEATURE: POINTS STANDINGS - 5/7 Another close call with the weather as Raceway honors Moms Once again, racers and fans were given a brief reprieve from the rain until the last checkered flag was unfurled at Orland Raceway on Saturday, April 7th. Promoter Paul Turner spent two days pumping water out of the turns and one full day grading so the track would be race-ready for the five division field of competitors. Since the event was completed, another 2-1/2 inches of rain have falling in Orland, resulting in a track which looks more like a fish pond. In the Sprint car feature, Superman Tony Richards had another clean sweep, taking the heat, dash and main event wins home to further his points lead. Adam Schroer battled to take over the lead but was unable to pass Richards. Willows' Doug Emery finished in third, followed by Dudley Burrows and Don Emery to round out the top five. Racing is scheduled to resume on Saturday, May 14th, featuring all five regular divisions. The Friday, May 20th Fair Race has been reorganized and will feature Sprints, Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks. This special event will begin at 7:00. For grandstand pricing, contact the Glenn County Fair office at 530/865-1168. For regular weekly racing, grandstands will open at 5:00 PM and racing will begin at 7:00. General admission is $8.00; kids and seniors are $4.00. Under six or over seventy are admitted free of charge.
