ANTIOCH WINGLESS SPRINT CARS
ANTIOCH SPEEDWAY - ANTIOCH, CA
MARCH 26, 2005
2005 Season
Opens With Excitement
Antioch Speedway opened the 2005
season on Saturday, after a one week delay because of weather
conditions. Six divisions were on hand, with the Wingless
Sprints, Dirt Modifieds, Super Stocks, Dwarf Cars, Mini Trux and Four
Bangers in competition. With no points being awarded for this
race, some of the car counts were lower than normal. The Dwarf
Cars were an exception. With a scheduled show in Placerville
rained out, 33 cars competed, requiring B & C mains.
Steve Mannina started out the 2005
season with an impressive win, leading all 25 laps in a non-stop
Wingless Sprint feature. Matt Sargent ended the night on top in
the Dwarf Cars, managing to avoid several accidents during the race.
Steve Noack bested an 18 car Dirt Modified field, holding off Don
Shelton for the win. D.J. Petrell was a very happy winner, as he
beat Melissa Hansen in the Super Stocks. Wayne DeRuyte was
victorious in the Mini Trux, while Hans Walde won in Four Banger
competition.
Action will return to the track
next Saturday night, April 2nd. This time, season championship
points will be on the line. Racing starts at 6:00 P.M., with the
spectator gates opening at 5:00 P.M. We look forward to seeing
you at Antioch Speedway, where action is the attraction!
