Jacobo back in the groove in Wix Filters Sprints during Napa Night
at Orland Raceway
The Wix Filters Sprint Car series completed their two-night series
following a Friday night event in Chico which saw Chris Webber crash
into the front wall coming off turn two and taking a ride to the
hospital. Chris was checked thoroughly, diagnosed with a concussion
and sent home for a couple of weeks reprieve from racing until he
heals.
Saturday's Sprint main featured three driver changes for the lead. Rob
Worthington jumped to an early lead only to be overtaken by Tony
Richards on the sixth circuit. Richards led the field until defending
Sprint champion Josh Jacobo took over on the 13th lap where he
remained for the balance of the 20-lap event. Richards settled for
second, with Elk Grove's Billy Garcia taking the third spot followed
by Worthington and Oroville's Ed Butterfield. Tony Richards garnered
the Trophy Dash victory.
