Now one of the top drivers in USAC
on paved surfaces, Lewis has won features, Rookie of the
Year awards and a USAC championship, and is a threat to
win a pavement USAC race on any given day. Lewis has been
sighted by many in the top echelons of American auto
racing, and was selected as a finalist in 2005 for the
annual Gong Show, Roush Racing’s search for the next
auto racing driving hero.

2005 – Was a Top-25 points performer in all three
of USAC’s National divisions; Best points finish came in
National Midget Car Series, where he posted nine starts
and two victories in major events – the “Night Before
The 500” and the “Rocky Mountain Classic;” Finished
23rd in National Sprint Car Series, running seven times
and recording four Top 10s, including a victory at Toledo,
Ohio; Also finished 23rd in the Silver Crown Series
points, running the five pavement races and placing second
and third in two 100-lappers; Won two Western Sprint Car
Series races at opposite ends of the season and set a fast
qualifying time early in the year; Won Western Midget Car
Series race at Stockton, Calif.; Also one of several
drivers to test the new generation Silver Crown car in
February at Phoenix International Raceway

2004 – Managed a second-place finish in defense
of Western Sprint Car Series title, despite winning seven
times in 15 starts with Western Speed; Also set seven
event fast times and led points on four occasions; Made
seven National Sprint Car Series starts with season-best
thirds (Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Fountain, Colo.) and one
fast time (Salem, Ind.); Produced five pavement starts in
Silver Crown Series competition, notching two Top 10s;
Started five National Midget Car Series races with a best
finish of third (Fountain); Won two Western-only Midget
shows (both at Madera, Calif.)

2003 – Enjoyed terrific season, winning the
Western Sprint Car Series title and National and Western
Sprint Car “Rookie of the Year” honors; Earned six
victories in 15 starts in five states on the West Coast,
beating teammate Tony Hunt in the title chase; Won
National races on high-banked Winchester and Salem (Ind.)
Speedways, finishing 15th in season-ending standings; Won
once in National Midget Car Series competition and added
two seconds at Irwindale, Calif., en route to 19th in
series points; Scored season-best 10th-place finishes in
Silver Crown action (Indianapolis Raceway Park and Phoenix
International Raceway); Ended up sixth in Western Midget
points

2002 – Season cut short by Silver Crown flip at
Terre Haute, Ind., but still managed three starts on the
dirt miles in series action and a 16th-place in National
Midget Car Series points, winning three races –
including the “Turkey Night Grand Prix” – in seven
starts

2001 – Closed Silver Crown campaign by winning
pole for “Hulman Hoosier Hundred,” and fifth-place
finish at IRP was season best; Won “Copper World
Classic” at Phoenix for National/Western Midget Car
Series and finished 12th in National points

2000 – Voted National Midget Car Series Most
Improved Driver after taking fourth in series points
standings; Defeated Kasey Kahne in closest finish in
organization’s history (Anderson, Ind.) and added a
second-place finish (Fountain, Colo.)

Series points standings, starting all but four races with
two third-place results (Bakersfield, Calif. and
Winchester)
