Notes:
Brad Bumgarner is a young man on a mission.
The 21-year old Chico, California born and raised racer has had
racing and little else on his mind since “day one” according
to the young charger.
Growing up in a racing family where
grandfather Roy and his dad and uncle campaigned one of the
premier sprint car teams of northern California, Brad cannot
remember a time when racing wasn’t a part of his life. Many of
his childhood memories revolve around the tracks his family
competed at all across the western U.S. and young Brad could
hardly wait to get behind the wheel of the Bumgarner Family
number 88.
The ever beautiful and well-prepared 88,
was finally piloted by Brad in the final race of the 2001 season
at Shasta Speedway in Anderson, California. Brad got in some
laps as preparation to running a full season in 2002, and Brad
immediately “jumped off the porch to run with some pretty big
dogs”, the USAC Western States Tour. Brad was one of the
standout rookies of both the Western States tour and the Western
Regional tour and posted several top 10 finishes and has won
three heat races to date.
The California Asphalt Sprintcar
Association was born in 2003 and Brad immediately took to the
half-mile at Altamont to become a force to be reckoned with.
Brad won his first Altamont CASA feature in early 2003, which he
notes as his favorite moment to date, but all veteran observers
recognize there will be many great moments to come in Brad’s
bright racing future.
CASA is glad to have Brad and the entire
Bumgarner family as members and looks forward to watching him
grow and prosper as a top-notch sprint car driver. (CASA)
