VENTURA, Calif. (April 28, 2009) – Free parking wasn’t enough. Not even close.
In celebration of the May 2 Grand Re-Opening of Ventura Raceway, promoter Jim Naylor announced today that the racetrack will offer patrons rollback prices on selected food items, gifts at the gate and prize giveaways all through the evening. The track already announced that parking for the event would be free of charge.
“This is a party for the fans,” Naylor said. “We want everyone to have a good time.”
The May 2 race card includes the Ventura Racing Association Sprint Cars, Senior Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, Pro Dwarf Cars and Senior Dwarfs and the VRA youth divisions.
The spectator gates open at 3 p.m. and practice begins at 3:30. General Admission tickets cost $14; military and student tickets sell for $11 and kids aged 12 and under, attending with an adult, get in for free.
Hot dogs and sodas will sell for a dollar each at the concession stand. A wide variety of gifts will be handed out to the first 100 paid adult admissions. And more prizes will be handed out during the racing event.
More money-saving specials for fans will be announced on the track’s website, www.venturaraceway.com, beginning Wednesday, April 29.
Just to be fair, Naylor said, still more prizes will be handed out to the racers themselves.
“The people come to see the drivers and their racecars,” Naylor said. “So we need to include the teams in the giveaway deal. It’s only fair.”
Ventura Raceway is located at the Ventura County Fairgrounds.
