VENTURA, Calif. (April 27, 2009) – Ventura Raceway announced today that parking will be free for race fans who attend the track’s Grand Re-Opening on Saturday, May 2, 2009.
Raceway Promoter Jim Naylor said the track worked out an agreement with the Ventura County Fairgrounds management to allow the free parking for Raceway patrons in order to give as many fans as possible the opportunity to attend the event and celebrate the remodeling.
“This is the most far-reaching remodeling package we’ve ever done in one year,” Naylor said. “We added the new crash walls and enlarged the track over the winter. Now we’ve done some landscaping and repainted things and it really does look like a brand new race track.”
The May 2 race card includes the Ventura Racing Association Sprint Cars, Senior Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, Pro Dwarf Cars and Senior Dwarfs and the VRA youth divisions.
The spectator gates open at 3 p.m. and practice begins at 3:30. General Admission tickets cost $14; military and student tickets sell for $11 and kids aged 12 and under get in for free.
