ALL COAST CONSTRUCTION CHALLENGE RETURNS TO RACEWAY
|
VENTURA, Calif. (March 24, 2009) – Ventura Raceway has announced that the popular All Coast Construction Challenge will return in 2009 with money on the table for the track’s Sprint Car racers.
The special three-race season-within-a-season will include a separate points system, although all three races will be regularly-scheduled events in the 2009 Ventura Raceway season and will count toward the regular season championship.
“This was a big hit last year,” said Raceway promoter Jim Naylor. “This year it’ll be a home run, thanks to the folks at All Coast Construction. They’ve added interest to the program.”
The All Coast Construction Challenge races will be held May 31, July 25 and October 24. The first two races will pay $2,000 to the winner. The third race will pay $5,000 to the winner, $2,000 to the runnerup and $1,000 to the third-place driver.
“We really enjoy our association with the Raceway,” said All Coast Construction’s Mike Grosswendt. “The All Coast Construction Challenge gives us a chance to thank the drivers and teams and it also gives our company a strong marketing tool. This is a winner all the way around.”
Many of the cars and drivers among the favorites to win the Challenge will race at the track Saturday. The VRA Sprint Cars, Dwarf Cars, IMCA Modifieds, VRA Sport Compacts, National Midget Racing Association Midgets and the VRA youth divisions will all be racing.
The spectator gates open at 3 p.m., youth division heat races start at 3:45 and the adult heat races start at 4. The traditional flag ceremony is slated for 5:30. General admission tickets cost $14, students and military get in for $11 and kids 12 and under get in for free.
