Santa Maria, Ca. – (May 2, 2009) – After finishing second in his previous two Non-Wing Sprint Car starts, Peter Murphy scored his second West Coast 360 Non-Wing Sprint Car main event from his fourth starting spot, last weekend at Santa Maria Speedway's 1/3-mile oval. Murphy took the lead at the halfway point in the 30-lap main event and never looked back.
The Santa Maria win would become the site for Murphy's second win in 2009, with the team's first win coming March 28th, at Kings Speedway. In addition to the two wins, Murphy has not finished out of the top-3 in 5 events entered in the Tom Tarlton owned, Tarlton & Son, Inc., No. 21 Sprint Car.
Tarlton Motorsports brought two cars to Santa Maria Speedway. Michael Faccinto was the pilot this evening aboard the Tarlton & Son, Inc., No. 21T. Faccinto was looking to shrug off the bad luck that plagued him April 18th at Kings Speedway, where the young lion was a victim of a DNF.
In preliminary action, Murphy would qualify in the fourth spot, turning a 14.815, with Faccinto qualified seventh out of the 19-car field, ripping off a 14.910 qualifying lap. In Heat No. 1, both Tarlton mounts would finish second and third respectively in the 10 lap event, with Faccinto trailing Murphy. In the dash, Murphy finished in the second position, finishing second behind good friend, Davey Pombo.
-Up Next For Tarlton Motorsports! Peter Murphy will be going for his third win of the season this weekend, May 9th, at Bakersfield Speedway for more West Coast 360 Sprint Car action. Tommy Tarlton will be racing this Friday, May 8th, at Ocean Speedway for Round No. 3 of GLR Investments Winged 360 Sprint Car racing.
