MAY 11, 2009 --- Mike Murgoitio and Ryan Burdett enter this Saturday's USAC Young Automotive Rocky Mountain Sprint race at Rocky Mountain Raceways in the Utah capital in a virtual tie for the series point lead.
Murgoitio won the April 25 series opener over Brian McClish and Burdett, but Burdett's fast qualifying time helped boost his point ranking. McClish stands only four points in arrears entering Saturday's race.
The victory was Murgoitio's first at the Salt Lake City oval, but Burdett has six career wins there. Jim Waters, the two-time former series champion, has a dozen wins there and hopes to tie Dave Fitzgerald for second on the all-time career Utah list with a Saturday win.
