First Red Hawk Casino Championship point race this Saturday at
Placerville

PLACERVILLE, CA (03/30/09) --- The 2009 Red Hawk Casino Championship Series is set to begin at Placerville Speedway this Saturday, April 4 with four divisions of racing on hand. Winged 360 cubic inch powered sprint cars will now be joined on the weekly campaign Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks along with a guest division during each event to create a four division program. The three track regulars will begin their journey towards the coveted season track championship from now until early September.
The sprint cars will compete in a total of 13 championship events during the year while the Pro Stocks will race a total of 15 events for the championship chase and the Pure Stocks will compete in 16 total races during the year.
Five different guest divisions are slated to appear throughout the season. Topping the list of special guests will be the Nor Cal Dwarf Cars that will make a total of eight appearances during the year, beginning on this Saturday The Bay Cities Racing Association will make multiple appearances this season with the full midgets racing on three different occasions and the midget lites competing six times during the year.
A new player at Placerville Speedway will be the Capital City Midgets. this group of talented racers made their Placerville Speedway debut last week with the pre-season Golden State Challenge Series event and will return for three additional visits throughout the year.
The popular Hunt Magneto Wingless Sprint Cars will return to Placerville Speedway once again in the year to come. Additional events to mark on your local racing calendar include The Placerville Police Officers Association Destruction Derby for charity on Sunday, August 16th. This event will be cross promoted with the annual Kids Night at the speedway which will fall on August 15th. Additional special events will include the U.S. Army Fourth of July Spectacular on Saturday, July 4th with racing and fireworks.
This Friday night, fans can get an up close look at the full size sprint car driven by Placerville’s James Sweeney and meet the driver who won the final point race of 2008. Sweeney will have his car on display at Powell’s Steamer Seafood Restaurant on Main Street, at the Bell Tower, in Placerville from 3:45 until 9 p.m. Friday night. The event is the second of many local community outreach events at Placerville Speedway is taking the sport to the streets in the months to come to promote El Dorado County’s only professional spectator sport and unite it with the business community in which is economically supports during the summer months.
