JEREMY SHERMAN TEAMS WITH DWIGHT CHENEY FOR USAC/CRA RUN!

(MARCH 19, 2009, PERRIS, CA) Car owner Dwight Cheney announced on Thursday afternoon that he is teaming with Arizona open wheel superstar Jeremy Sherman to make an assault on the 2009 Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Series. The duo will make their debut on March 28th when the series next appears at Don Kazarian's Perris Auto Speedway.

Sherman, 32, of Surprise, Arizona, has been the dominant driver at Manzanita Speedway over the past decade. In addition to 99 lifetime wins at the legendary Phoenix half-mile, Sherman is the two time defending ASCS Canyon Region Champion and the 2005 & 2006 ASCA Champion. Among his biggest wins at Manzanita are the 2001 Western World Championship and the 2002 & 2003 Western World 360 Championship. While his inclusion in the USAC/CRA Series will be welcomed by fans, it is being made possible by the sad closing of the more than half-century old Manzanita Speedway, which will hold it's last ever race on April 11th.

Sherman is no stranger to fans at The PAS. In 1996, the tracks first year in existence, Sherman was named Rookie of the Year in the resident Sprint Car Series, SCRA. However, his most memorable performance at the Riverside County clay oval came on November 16th, 2003 when he started 21st and charged all the way to a second place finish behind Cory Kruseman in the Budweiser Oval Nationals.

In addition to his SCRA Rookie of the Year award, Sherman was also named USAC Western Midget Rookie of the Year in 1995 and the Arizona Midget Racing Association Rookie of the Year in 1992.

Car owner Cheney has had success with an Arizona driver at The PAS in years gone by. On February 9th, 2002, J.J. Yeley took Cheney's car to the Perris Auto Speedway/SCRA season opening main event victory.

Glendora, California based Cheney has two brand new DRC chassis' available for Sherman in 2009. Sponsored by Sander Engineering, the cars will sport Cheney's familiar orange and blue colors with some flashy new graphics. They will be #42. The team is still seeking additional sponsorship.
